FASS pumps are well-known
throughout the industry for two distinct reasons. Not only are their products
efficient at removing air from fuel, the company has made serious advancements
in making their systems quieter. And, because FASS devices are the first choice
of many consumers, they take constant abuse in vehicles worldwide, and suffer
few serious issues as a whole.
The Platinum series device is
FASS’s first and only all-in-one unit. It houses a single filter, which removes
air, filters fuel, and separates water. FASS has successfully cut the need to
have two filters, which means less maintenance is required to achieve the best
results. It also fits the needs of truck owners who have little mounting space.
The Platinum is priced less than the HD and Titanium devices, but all three
designs share the same pump.
It is well known that users often
desire more range per tank. The Platinum device has demonstrated in a public
forum that it will add to your average MPG. In the March 2012 edition of Diesel
Power Magazine, Christian Hazel wrote about how the magazine modified a 2007 Dodge Ram
with a 6.7L Cummins engine to get more range. Hazel created a list of the
modifications made to their truck, and only two of the additions were directly
conducive to added fuel economy: the FASS Platinum system and the “Bully Dog Triple Dog GT tuner set to Tow
mode.” The result was significant: Hazel notes
that the Dodge Ram saw an average gain of 2.5 MPG.
One consumer posed an interesting
question on a diesel enthusiasts' message board: Why put the filter on the
pressure side instead of the vacuum side of the Platinum? There is apparently
one simple reason: air separation.
FASS strongly stands behind the
reliability of this product. The Platinum series is protected by a lifetime
warranty when installed on your light-duty pickup truck. The reason why FASS is
able to offer a lifetime warranty on the Platinum’s pickup applications is
because of the high-quality components used. FASS uses United States Military
Defense Specification (MIL-SPEC) standard coatings for its billet 6061-T6
aluminum, one of the most durable manufacturing materials on the industrial
market. The Platinum also uses top-shelf Viton O-rings from DuPont, one of the
world’s largest chemical companies, instead of using the standard, less durable
O-rings. FASS also uses time-tested science with mandrel bent fittings, which
effectively reduces the Platinum's friction loss and turbulence.
